How can I transfer money?

Once you have a SoFi Checking and Savings account, you can use the app to send money to other people, between your accounts, and more. Simply select the type of money transfer you want to make, how much you want to send, and the frequency.

How can I send money to friends and family from my SoFi Checking account?

You can transfer money to friends and family via a peer-to-peer (P2P) transfer. Simply log in to the SoFi app, select 'Send money to a friend,' and input the recipient’s email address or phone number. They should receive the money in two to three business days. If your friends and family members are SoFi members, you can send them money instantly through the app.

Can I set up a recurring person-to-person (P2P) transfer with SoFi?

You can set up a recurring P2P transfer when choosing the frequency for your money transfer. For example, you can select “Monthly” as the frequency and that person will receive money from you each month until you cancel the recurring transfer.

How long do SoFi money transfers take?

Money transfers between SoFi members are instant. If you’re sending money to someone outside of SoFi, it takes two to three business days for the amount to post to their account.

How do I set up automatic transfers?

Log in to the SoFi app, input the type of transfer, recipient, and amount of money. Then select the frequency of the money transfer and you’re all set.

Can I transfer money internationally with a SoFi Checking account?

No, making international transfers is not currently possible with a SoFi Checking account.

FAQ

A wire transfer is a fast and convenient way to send money from one bank account to another. It’s often used for big purchases like homes or cars, or whenever you need to move a large amount of money fast.

Log in to your SoFi account on the app or web. Then navigate to Banking > Transfer > Wire transfer > Send a wire, and follow the instructions from there. You’ll need to know the recipient’s name, address, bank account number, and wire routing number.

Not at this time. We only support wire transfers within the U.S.

We charge a $30 fee to send a wire to cover the processing costs. This fee will be charged separately and only when your wire has been successfully processed.¹

As of March 31, 2025, all users must be enrolled through one of the more than 2,200 banks and credit unions that offer Zelle^® in order to send and receive money. You can find a full list of participating banks and credit unions live with Zelle^® at Zellepay.com. If their bank or credit union is not listed, we recommend you use another payment method at this time.
