Friday Fundings: Typeform, DataRails, Slingshot Aerospace
Software Company Typeform Announces $135 Million Series C
Barcelona-based software startup Typeform announced a $135 million Series C fundraising round, which comes almost four and a half years after its Series B. The company makes customizable forms, surveys, and quizzes. It refers to the product as a “conversational data collection platform.”
Typeform was founded in 2012. The company says its valuation is now $935 million following the closing of this round. Executives say the money will be used to expand its products’ ease-of-use, add more features, and make the service even more customizable.
Spreadsheet Enhancement Firm DataRails Closes $50 Million Series B
DataRails, a New York-Israeli company, is a provider of financial planning and analytics tools that integrate with digital spreadsheets. This includes Microsoft’s (MSFT) Excel, which has an estimated 1 billion global users. Data also shows 80% of spreadsheet users rely on the software for financial bookkeeping, many of them small businesses.
DataRails recently announced a $50 million Series B round. The company says the funds will be used to add new features to its product, including the ability to use predictive modeling. Executives also indicate the company will continue to focus on servicing small and mid-sized businesses.
Helping Satellites Navigate: Slingshot Aerospace Snags $25 Million
Avoiding space junk and other objects in orbit has become more difficult for satellite operators in recent years, which is where Slingshot Aerospace comes in. Founded in 2017, the company has raised a $34.6 million Series A round that came in two parts. This latest announcement includes $25 million in funding, while $8 million was disclosed in October 2020.
Small-scale satellites and massive structures such as SpaceX’s Starlink have left earth’s orbit pretty crowded these days. Reports indicate the International Space Station needs to regularly complete maneuvers in order to avoid collisions. Slingshot Aerospace’s service synthesizes data from multiple inputs, creating what it describes as a real-time digital landscape of space that aims to enhance satellite operators’ ability to navigate.
