Hotels Lure Families by Simplifying Travel with Babies
Families Want to Travel
Pent-up demand for travel ballooned during the pandemic, and today more people are venturing out, reveling in their post-lockdown freedom. Those with babies in tow are joining the trend, despite some of the challenges commonly associated with traveling and vacationing overnight with young ones.
A 2021 survey by the Family Travel Association found 88% of parents planned trips with their babies or toddlers in the next year. It seems the intent of hotels on attracting these potential patrons is working to make their property the standout choice for families.

Differentiating the offer by catering to the specific needs of children seems to be paying off. Loews Hotels (L), which in 2020 added baby-oriented perks at its 26 properties, saw check-in rates among customers with children increase 10%. The Ritz Carlton’s (MAR) growth at its St. Thomas property exploded 30% since the pandemic. The luxury resort also offers a range of amenities for parents traveling with babies.
Perks for Parents
Parents eager to get out will find many enticing offers from the luxury hotel market that promises to make traveling with children a breeze. The benefits start even before travelers leave home.
Amenities provided by some resorts include bottle warmers, changing pads, bibs, spoons, and sleepers in order to simplify packing. Eliminating the need to lug a Pack ‘n Play may be incentive enough for some to patronize these resorts. On site, parents may delight in finding everything from child-proofing and baby food, to on-site nannies and baby-oriented activities. These perks may well ensure parents can truly relax and better enjoy their time away from home.
