Ode to SoFi: A Member Poem
We get a lot of amazing and humbling feedback from our members, but recently we received an extra special note and package. Robert, a SoFi member and student loan refi borrower, went to Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. He graduated in 2010 with a BA in Political Science and four student loans. He consolidated with a big bank but he said it left him with a large payment and interest rate. He then refinanced with SoFi and lowered his payment and loan duration. He’s now an operations manager, is married and has a 2 year old son. We loved his inspiring poem and hope you do, too:
Call me an inventor, entrepreneur, a visionary,
An explorer seeking an idea that is truly revolutionary.
I was unable to innovate, due to my student loan pollution,
Until I was saved through Sofi’s student loan revolution.
Crushed under the weight of large student debt,
I persevered on and tried not to fret.
But alas I had to put my dreams on hold,
The castle in the sky that my childish expectations had foretold.
Travel, exploration, innovation, the American dream, no such luck,
Like a turtle on its back, I felt stuck.
Until I came across Sofi and their plan for relief,
To provide students with student loan help was their belief.
My monthly payments now down by $200 dollars,
I can now reinvest my extra income like my idol scholars.
Not in games, in materials, in cars, or the lot,
But to invest in a purpose driven life that cannot be bought.
I desire to be great and help make the world a better place,
To help leave it healthy so I have no problem to look my son in the face.
Because if there’s one thing that we millennials can call an affliction,
Is our overwhelmingly strong conviction.
Its more than a drive, or desire for notoriety,
It’s a calling to lead a life that will aid our society.
Forget all the deeds of Elon Musk, Benjamin Franklin, or Isaac Newton,
I want to be the first Robert McEwen.
Sincerely,
Robert McEwen
