Powering Up Gamers’ Financial Futures at Meta Melee, the First Ever SoFi League of Legends Collegiate Gaming Tournament

Today, we’re excited to announce two upcoming partnerships with the League Championship Series (LCS), Riot Games’ North American League of Legends professional league. To further our mission of helping people get their money right, we are official partners of this year’s Scouting Grounds, a week-long path to pro event that kicks off today. Our hope is that by showcasing the next generation of North American League of Legends gaming talent, we can help future generations power up their personal finances and build a strong financial foundation while pursuing their ambitions. In addition to our sponsorship, we’ll also be hosting the SoFi Meta Melee, the first-ever SoFi League of Legends collegiate tournament series, beginning on November 20. The tournament, a first-of-its-kind, is a hybrid series tournament where college students compete for a prize pool of $50,000.* Prizes awarded to winning teams will include money for investing with SoFi Invest or for student loan repayment (or college education costs), and in-game skin codes. The tournament will last until December 13, 2020 at 11:59:59p ET, and you must be a college student to be eligible to register.

The esports boom is spreading across college campuses in the United States, with some students even receiving college scholarships.
