The Role:
SoFi is searching for an intern to support our growing business. This role will be a key contributor in supporting the daily operations of the corporate controllership organization. The key accounting areas within these responsibilities include cash, fixed assets, leases, prepaid assets and other assets, vendor expense recognition, etc.. The right person will thrive with the eagerness to learn, using innovative approaches to solving problems, ready to accept new challenges, and willing to contribute to improving our end-to-end accounting process.
**The candidate must be available for the entire internship period: Monday, June 16, 2025 - Friday, August 22, 2025 **What You’ll Do:
- Be a key contributor to help members in the corporate controllership organization meet deadlines
- Assist in month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Prepare journal entries, analyze fluctuations in results and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare various reconciliations and analysis of account activity
- Produce analyses to support other business functions in management decision making
- Assist with quarterly SEC filings as well as internal audit and SOX requests
- Provide support for other ad hoc analyses and projects as needed
What You’ll Need:
- Enrolled in an accredited US-based university (working towards a Bachelor’s ONLY) with an expected graduation date of Spring 2026
- Must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship
- Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience (excluding internships and research assistant roles)
- Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work in the San Francisco HQ office
- Must be attending a US-based university for positions in the US
- Able to obtain work authorization in the US
- Proficiency in MS Excel and excellent writing skills
- Solid organizational, analytical, and project management skills
- A forward-thinking and hands-on approach and a desire to learn
- Knowledge of audit principles and financial reporting, balance sheets, income statements
Nice to have:
- Experience in financial services and/or technology industries
- Experience with ETL tools and other data transformation tools (Alteryx, Tableau, Snowflake, etc.)
- Experience with Accounting ERPs
